I know what you are thinking – “I know about people who have more than one account, and they share them with their friends!”
Well, in most cases, Riot Games will not do anything about it, but if they find out that you are sharing your LoL account, they might get you permanently banned.

The rules are clear – account sharing is not allowed in any form or shape. Nonetheless, it is also worth understanding the reasons behind this.
1. You Can’t Give Your Riot Password to a Friend or Family Member
Account security is of utmost importance in the realm of League of Legends. To maintain the integrity of your account, it is crucial to understand that sharing your Riot account password with others, be it a close friend or family member, is strictly prohibited.
Your account represents your journey, your progress, and your achievements, and keeping your login credentials confidential ensures that you alone hold the reins of your summoner destiny. Therefore, you cannot even share your account with your brother, sister, or significant other – that’s how things work!
2. Boosting and League of Legends Account Trading Is Forbidden
Boosting refers to the act of allowing someone else to play on your account to artificially increase your ranking or skill level. Likewise, account trading involves transferring ownership of an account to another player.
Of course, although this is strictly forbidden by Riot Games and subject to penalties, most times, they don’t look deep into LoL account boosting processes as they have more important things to deal with.
3. All Users Can Report League of Legends Account Sharing

On the official Player Reporting Guide by Riot, you can read a part that says, “You must have played a game with the offending player within the last 20 games.”

The problem is that, in my experience, reporting while in-game does not always work. This feature can be abused, which is why submitting an account-sharing report on your web browser is the way to go.
So, How Many LoL Accounts Can You Have?
Now, here’s the tricky part – there is no set number of League of Legends accounts you can have.
We looked through the game’s Terms of Service and didn’t find a rule imposed on the number of accounts a player can have.
That being said, many players use this “contract loophole” to handle more than one account. That’s why you see so many LoL players with smurf accounts, and nothing happens to them.
In reality, if all accounts belong to you, and you don’t share them with anybody, then you can have as many LoL accounts as you want.
But I suggest you be cautious – having more than 3 to 5 League of Legends accounts might put your account integrity in danger!
How Does Riot Detect Account Sharing?
You might be wondering, how does Riot Games detect account sharing? How can they even know that someone is actually sharing their League of Legends account?
There are three possible ways and methods Riot employs to detect account sharing inside the game:
- Pattern Analysis: Riot Games closely monitors account activity and analyzes patterns associated with login behavior. They examine factors such as IP addresses, geographic locations, and login times. Sudden changes or inconsistencies in these patterns can raise red flags and trigger further investigation.

How to Report Account Sharing League of Legends
First of all, it is worth noting that we are counted to report account sharing on LoL from the post-game lobby.
I mentioned before that you could report someone while playing a match, but then again, Riot might not take your report into account, as they receive thousands of them every day.
Follow these three steps to learn how to report account sharing in League of Legends successfully.
Step 1: Go to Riot Game’s Report Page
Log into your Riot accounts, and go to the official League of Legends Report Page by clicking here.
This feature works to report an LoL player after a game, so remember that you must have recently (20 matches before) played with them.
Step 2: Type in the Summoners Name (GamerTag) And Click “Negative Attitude”
After opening the support page, type in the name of the person (gamer tag or summoner name) that you want to report for account sharing.
You will not see an “account sharing” button, so instead, select “Negative Attitude.” Then, move on to the final step.
Step 3: Use This League of Legends Account Sharing Report Template
In order to proceed with the report, Riot Games will ask you for more details about the account-sharing event.

Submit the report, and wait for Riot to check it out and reply back. They may take from 3 to 7 days to give you an answer, so be patient.
Afterward, there are two possible outcomes:
