Quick Gaming Answer

There are two ways to report Rocket League players: using in-game reporting features, or going to Epic Games Contact Page. We teach you how to successfully report Rocket League players for toxic behavior, smurfing, hacking, or inappropriate conduct by showing you several Rocket League Report Examples below.

Double jump to specific section!

Can You Report Someone on Rocket League?

Yes, you can report someone on Rocket League both inside the game and outside the game.

In fact, the Rocket League Team also made it easy to report other issues that may affect your gaming experience, such as the Rocket League Tournament glitch and Rocket League vibration not working.

Moreover, every player can submit a report to the Rocket League Team.

Let’s remember that Rocket League is now owned by Epic Games, which means that all reports go through Epic’s support platform.

Does Reporting Someone on Rocket League Work?

Before reporting someone on Rocket League, you may be wondering something: does reporting someone on Rocket League really work? Will Epic Games do something about it?

Well, there are three key factors that help us answer this common question:

  1. Online web reports work better than in-game reports. By submitting a report directly on Epic Game’s Support Center via a web browser, the Epic Team is more likely to ban the Rocket League user. In-game reporting features can be abused, which is why they may not be as accurate.
  2. You can only report players if they break the Rocket League Code of Conduct. The Code of Conduct is our holy grail for reporting someone on Rocket League, so make sure to check it out.
  3. Filing false reports on Rocket League can get yourself banned. Only report someone if you are 100% sure they broke the Code of Conduct rules somehow.

How Do I Report a Player Inside Rocket League?

The first way to report a player in Rocket League is by using the in-game reporting feature.

As I mentioned above, this reporting feature is not that accurate because it may be abused by some players.

To report a player inside Rocket League, follow these steps:

1. After or during a Rocket League match, open the Recent Players tab or the main Player Menu.

2. Look for the player you want to report, and select “Report Player.”

3. Carefully choose the main reporting reason. These are the main reporting reasons provided by Epic Game’s in-game reporting feature:

  • XP farming: Any use of automated bots for the purpose of farming XP, Items, etc.
  • Inappropriate player name: The player’s name is upsetting or offensive.
  • Trade scam: If a trade was not successful or legitimate.
  • Inappropriate club name: The player’s club name is upsetting or offensive.
  • Intentionally idle: Not moving or only moving slightly during a match.
  • Match throwing or griefing: Scoring own goals, intentionally disturbing teammate’s movements, etc..
  • Verbal harassment: Offensive language in voice chat.
  • Text harassment: Offensive language in text chat.

4. Submit the report, and finish the process. You will most likely not hear anything back from the Rocket League team, which is why I’m personally not a fan of this method.

Use this Rocket League Cheating Report Template:

Dear Epic Games Support Team,

Player Details:

  • Username/Display Name: [Offending Player’s Username/Display Name]

3. How to Report Someone on Rocket League for Inappropriate Conduct

Although inappropriate conduct and toxic behavior may sound similar, they are not the same thing. Inappropriate conduct in Rocket League refers to spamming messages in-game, unsportsmanlike behavior, and excessive trolling.

Use this Rocket League Inappropriate Conduct Report template:

Subject: Reporting Inappropriate Conduct on Rocket League

Dear Epic Games Support Team,

I wish to report a player on Rocket League for engaging in inappropriate conduct, negatively impacting the gaming experience.

Player Details:

  • Username/Display Name: [Offending Player’s Username/Display Name]

[Your Name]

[Your Rocket League Username]

4. How to Report Smurfing in Rocket League

Smurfing refers to the act of abusing the matchmaking system of the game for a player’s advantage.

For instance, if someone is intentionally keeping their rank low, or if an experienced player created a new account just to play against newbies, that’s Rocket League smurfing!

The in-game reporting option in Rocket League does not have a feature to report smurfing, so you must go to Epic Games Contact Page as mentioned above, log into your account, and use the following Rocket League Smurfing Report Template:

Subject: Reporting Smurf Player Impacting Game Fairness

Dear Epic Games Support Team,

I am writing to report a player in Rocket League who is engaging in smurfing activities, severely impacting the fairness of gameplay for other participants.

Player Details:

  • Username/Display Name: [Offending Player’s Username/Display Name]
  • Platform: [Player’s Platform]

Instances of Smurfing:

  • [Briefly describe a specific incident highlighting the player’s smurfing behavior]
  • [Include another incident, if applicable]
  • [Add any additional instances you wish to report]

The smurfing behavior exhibited by this player leads to unbalanced matches and a frustrating experience for others who are genuinely playing at their skill level. Their deliberate manipulation of matchmaking disrupts the competitive integrity of the game.

I am willing to provide any further evidence, such as replays or screenshots, to support the investigation process and assist in resolving this issue.

Thanks,

What Happens When You Report Someone on Rocket League?

After submitting a report on Rocket League, there are three possible outcomes:

  1. Epic Games reviews your report, and the player gets banned.
  2. The Support Team asks you for more context before finally banning the player, which means that you’ll need to elaborate further on your report.
  3. Nothing will happen, and more Rocket League players must report the same user so Epic Games can do something about it – sadly, this happens a lot!

Can You Report Rocket League Content Creators?

Yes, you can report Rocket League content creators. According to the Rocket League code of conduct (mentioned above), there are two instances where you can report Rocket League content creators:

  • Using Rocket League to promote sponsors that violate Rocket League’s Code of Conduct, ToU, and EULA.
  • Stream sniping, which refers to watching the live stream of another creator while playing against them.

If you notice any of these two violations from Rocket League content creators, don’t hesitate to submit a report.

Likewise, the aforementioned rules also apply to content creators, so they are not exclusively protected just because they work for Epic Games!
